Monday, March 15, 2010

General Manager of Siouxland Energy and Livestock Coop and a board member of Growth Energy, Bernie Punt, was recently asked to fish with the producer of the TV show, “Fishing the Midwest”, Bob Jensen. Jensen, is an advocate for ethanol and wanted to educate viewers on the importance of the renewable product and the benefits it provides.

Punt caught walleyes, perch, and smallmouth bass on Waubay Lake in South Dakota while he spoke about the alternative fuel,“While we were fishing, we discussed how ethanol helps keep our environment clean and healthy, reduces our dependence on foreign oil, and creates 1000’s of jobs in the US. Increasing ethanol production will not be bad for the environment as many currently think. We are no longer using harmful herbicides that harm the environment, but that are chemically friendly. Streams and lakes have been cleaner than before. This is farmers’ and ethanol producers’ livelihood.”
